The BLACKPINK members are switching it up on their label, YG Entertainment. Recently, the South Korean agency confirmed that all 4 members of this Kpop sensation have parted ways with them for their solo careers. According to South Korean media outlets, the agency spilled the tea this Friday: while the group’s collective projects are still under YG’s wing, each member’s solo pursuits are about to fly solo.

Earlier this month, specifically on December 6th, both the BLACKPINK squad and their company signed an exclusive contract to continue working on group activities. This means that the 4-piece girl group is not disbanding, because they will still promote their music together. In fact, YG’s general producer Yang Hyun-seok spilled that they are set to drop a new album and hold a massive world tour again.

Catch the official statement here:

“We recently signed an extension contract for Blackpink’s group activities and agreed not to proceed with a separate additional contract for individual activities. We will do our best to support BLACKPINK’s activities, and we will support the members’ individual activities with a warm heart.”

This statement comes after much speculation and rumors from BLINKs (that’s the name BLACKPINK fans wear proudly) and other Kpop stans. Some of them have been affirming that the individual members, Jennie, Liso, Rosé and Lisa would part ways with their former agency for their individual contracts.

This was later confirmed after Jennie unveiled her very own agency, named “OA.” This was the final hint to confirm that the BP girls are taking their solo futures on their own terms. Finally, as 2024 comes, everything is clearer: these Kpop queens are ready to conquer new realms as individuals.
