Christmas movies should be considered a whole genre, because movies of our favorite times of the year always occupy a special place in our hearts and it is certainly something we want to share with all our loved ones, so we made a list of the movies you should not miss this Christmas.
These are the Christmas movies not to miss
The list starts with a Halloween and Christmas classic, because The Night Before Christmas is already a Christmas classic.
When Jack Skellington, the Lord of Halloween, discovers Christmas, he is fascinated and decides to improve it. However, his vision of the holiday is totally contrary to the Christmas spirit. His plans include kidnapping Santa Claus and introducing some rather ghoulish changes. Only his girlfriend Sally is aware of the mistake he is making.
Beloved by many and hated by others, Elf
One Christmas Eve, in an orphanage, a baby crawls into a sack of Santa’s presents and ends up in his workshop at the North Pole. He is adopted and raised as an elf but 30 years later, as he grows up, he becomes three times bigger than the others. They decide that the best thing for him is to find his family. With that intention he travels to New York, where he first manages to find his father (James Caan), a workaholic, money-grubbing children’s book publisher who is on Santa’s blacklist. Then he finds a new mother (Mary Steenburgen) and discovers that his ten-year-old stepbrother (Daniel Tay) doesn’t believe in elves or Santa Claus or Christmas. In fact, everyone seems to have forgotten the meaning of the holiday. As Christmas approaches, our character decides to take advantage of his knowledge of the elven world to try to win the love of his family and, moreover, save the Christmas spirit both in New York and the rest of the world.
And even if it’s not Christmas, it does happen at this time of year, so don’t miss Gremlins.
Rand (Hoyt Axton) is a traveler who one day gives his son Billy (Zach Galligan) a tender and strange creature, a mogwai. The innocent gift, however, will be the origin of a whole wave of hooliganism and misdeeds in a small town in the United States. It all starts when the three basic rules that must be followed to take care of a mogwai are broken one after the other: don’t feed it after midnight, don’t get it wet and don’t let it get sunlight.
