There is the horror that we all know and on the other side is the cosmic horror, and this kind of cinema is not known by many, but should be loved by all, and when we think of something bigger, much bigger than our own existence, it is impossible not to get excited with all the possibilities.

James Wan plans a movie on H.P. Lovecraft’s Call of Cthulhu

We love it when our favorite movie directors are ready to give us even more horror content and James Wan is already planning something with cosmic horror and we can’t get excited, because it will definitely make it to the big screen and not only that, but also video games that will create a fantasy world that we are very ready for.

Although James Wan intends to produce the film, Deadline reports that a video game is also in the works that will extend to the film production. Funding for this project comes from a fund called Stars-Hana, which will grant resources to filmmakers like Wan and Sam Raimi to pursue projects across multiple platforms, which could include TV series, comics, collectibles and other products.

In the archives of the venerable Professor Angell, his nephew, Francis Thurston, discovered some documents that revealed a series of investigations initiated with the aim of explaining some shocking phenomena, including a collection of disturbing dreams, various outbreaks of madness or a clay tablet with a monstrous sculpted figure. What could be inferred from them was overwhelming. Undoubtedly the professor knew too much, and sometimes we can only be grateful that our limited understanding prevents us from accessing some ominous truths.

Cthulhu is a primordial creature within the cosmic entities, created by H. P. Lovecraft. The Call of Cthulhu inaugurated the famous cosmic horror cycle The Cthulhu Myths, which took the genre of horror literature to another level, creating an imaginary beyond our comprehension. The fictional worlds conceived by the author have exerted an enormous influence on popular culture from the 1970s to the present day.

James Wan claims that Call of Cthulhu is a “dream project” for his career, and acknowledges that he has been working on it in secret for five years. No doubt this universe gives us many opportunities for anyone who enjoys unconventional, but very interesting stories. What do you think about it? Will you be watching the new productions?
