Melissa Barrera speaks after being fired from Scream 7
Through her social networks, the actress published a story where she spoke for the first time since it became known that the actress would have been fired:
“First and foremost I condemn anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. I condemn hatred and prejudice of any kind against any group of people. As a Latina, and proudly Mexican, I feel a responsibility to have a platform that allows me the privilege of being heard, and so I try to use it to raise awareness about issues that matter to me and lend my voice to those who need it most.”
“All people…regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status, deserve equal human rights, dignity and, of course, freedom…I pray day and night for no more deaths and no more violence, for peace…. I will continue to speak out for those who need it… silence is not an option for me.”
According to the actress’ publications, she defended the rights of Palestinians and criticized Israel’s invasion as a violation of freedom. She even compared the invasion to Mexico by stating that our country was colonized in the same way.
What do you think about it? Do you think that what Melissa is going through is an unjustified dismissal?
