Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex renounced their titles in 2020, they were involved in many controversies, and it has been very noticeable how the rejection of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry increased in 2023 due to the decisions they have made in the past regarding the British crown.
At first, they managed to capture the attention of many media outlets after the surprising news of their dissociation from the royal family and their subsequent statements, and although they tried to take advantage of all these controversies to improve their image and be more popular in England, the opposite happened.
The low popularity that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are having can be noticed in their Netflix productions, which have had a terrible performance, as well as in the cancellation of Meghan Markle’s podcast ‘Archetypes’ on Spotify, which could work as an indicator that shows their failure in the entertainment industry.
Bill Simmons, an important Spotify executive, gave a statement after finalizing the agreement with the Duke and Duchess: “No one will care about what you have to say unless you talk about the royal family, so you can’t sell documentaries and podcasts talking about other topics“.
