Grimes has been widely known for her blow-mind concepts in her albums, the uniqueness and undeniable talent of the artist has taken her artistry to a whole new level. Even Grimes couldn’t escape from Swift’s influence after she confessed during a little convo with aespa for Rolling Stones she cosplayed Taylor Swift and came up with a song from her fourth album, “Artangels.”
Aespa and Grimes got together for the very first time to talk about diverse aspects from their artistry and found mutual admiration, after a couple questions and a great conversation, aespa’s Giselle confessed she really liked Grime’s vibes when it comes down to her music, and asked her how she came up with songs like “Easily” and “California.”
For everyone’s surprise, Grimes stated she was doing Taylor Swift cosplay when she started producing “California,” and also confessed she wanted to portray how the media is obsessed to show some musicians as troubled souls. After this, she immediately asked aespa if they suffered from the same issues by the South Korean media outlets.
Aespa said they definitely get that feeling, because the media tries to portray them badly with different scandals and things under the same line. “California” previously was directed towards Pitchfork because of the misinterpretations of Grime’s words, which ended up in the artists showing discontent on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Undeniably, Grimes has shown another phase of her artistry, which was completely influenced by Taylor Swift. There is no surprise there, because Grimes has shown support and admiration for Swift as she previously stated Taylor would be the only presidential candidate who could unite the United States.
