Netflix is a streaming giant known for its extensive and diverse catalog packed with series and movies. This time we will be telling you about two standout sci-fi K-dramas that could potentially take the crown of “Doom at Your Service,” which is another fan-favorite fiction drama.
Doom at Your Service has been acclaimed by both fans and critics as one of the best there is in the genre. It sells the story of Kim Saram, a man who leads a capricious life and is tasked with the world’s destruction. However, little did he know he would meet a woman who only has a few days left to live. At some point, the pair decides to strike a pact concerning death.
Considering the success of the previous series, it is no surprise that Netflix has attempted to introduce Korean shows that could possibly overshadow “Doom at Your Service,” and maybe get a shot at replicating its success. We are talking about “A Korean Odyssey” and “The Bride of Habaek.”
On one hand, “A Korean Odyssey” is a fictional K-drama that mixes up the worlds of spirits, ghosts, and demons. This story involves a female medium, who is contacted by a mythical being that is desperately trying to survive. This supernatural entity will try to take advantage of the medium to exploit her abilities to fulfill its own agenda.
On the other hand, “The Bride of Habaek” centers around Habaek, the Water God and emperor of the divine realm. He is tasked with visiting the human world to offer people solidarity and love. In this journey, he meets Yoon So-ah, a psychiatrist, who might help him with his task in the human world.
These Netflix K-Dramas have garnered the love of fans on the platform, and the best part is that they are relatively short. A Korean Odyssey spans a single season with 20 episodes, while The Bride of Habaek runs for one season with 16 episodes. Only time (and viewers, of course) will decide if these two shows will manage to beat Doom at Your Service.
