In recent days, Marvel Studios has been under a strong wave of criticism after a VFX employee who worked on the ‘WandaVision‘ series revealed controversial details of the franchise’s work methodology applied to its workers, which could worsen the current protests by actors and writers in Hollywood.
Despite being one of the largest film franchises in the film industry, this cannot justify the company of having bad practices against its employees, it could even be more detrimental to its great legacy and prestige among viewers and fans around the world.
For its part, ‘Rolling Stone‘ magazine shared the confessions of a franchise worker in charge of VFX, where he revealed that during his work he was constantly subjected to 16-hour shifts, cataloging Marvel Studios as a company that leads to limit the work to its workers.
The worker named Mark Patch shared that he was in charge of coordinating the visual effects in ‘WandaVision’, he also assured that working in the VFX area was a job that did not have breaks and although he took small breaks, he affirmed that “he was living in the workplace“, so after completing the series he resigned.
As a result of this and other confessions of workers who have gone through this situation with the superhero franchise, the Stidio has been involved in criticism in social networks where labor exploitation stands out.
In addition, in July of last year, the well-known medium ‘Vulture‘ published an interview with an employee from the same area as Patch, where he revealed horrible details of Marvel’s bad practices with its employees:
“They pay very poorly, and they excessively demand that we work, sometimes we don’t even know what they want, revisions there, editions here, it’s an endless list of duties, and by the way, they do them at the last minute, forcing us to hurry with a lot of pressure on us, I’ve had co-workers just sit next to me and break down in tears, anxiety attacks are a daily occurrence“.
