Barbie officially surpasses Harry Potter
When the promotional campaign began, everyone knew that Barbie would be a hit, but people didn’t imagine the enormous impact the movie would have, and that it would even surpass several of the films that have led Warner to great success, even surpassing Harry Potter.
When someone thought of Warner Bros. quickly came to mind the universe of the most famous wizard in the world, Harry Potter, but everything would be changing, since with only one film and at the first attempt without the need of re-releases on screen so far, Barbie has become a global success, being now the highest grossing film of Warner.
According to Deadline, expectations for Monday’s worldwide gross are already inevitable, so Barbie is set to become the highest-grossing film in Warner Bros. history this Monday, surpassing the current number one, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, which holds the title with more than $1.342 billion grossed worldwide.
But that’s not all, as next week The doll movie is also expected to surpass ‘Super Mario Bros: The Movie’ and also become the highest grossing film of the year, which would completely confirm the Mattel doll’s dominance on the big screen.
This would be generating a great precedent, since the movie, has made Greta, director of the film, as the only woman to achieve the resounding success it is having. Experts say Barbie could close her successful run at the box office with more than $1.6 billion in grosses.
