Facebook Inc’s platforms, including WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram, are down for thousands of users on this Friday, according to outage-tracking website Downdetector.com and its own users on Twitter obviously.
Downdetector tracks outages by collecting status reports from a number of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform. The outages affected a greater number of users.
Although, as everyone knows, Facebook has a corporation which it attributes to certain important names such as “WhatsApp”; company that they acquired a couple of years ago, Instagram and Messenger (their own) and they are all super mega popular. Now, it seems that according to reports, the mega company has a messaging server issue which today had technical problems affecting millions of users.
The errors and reports that were observed were especially in 3 of its 4 important platforms, these 3 being messaging: Facebook Lite Messenger, Messenger for Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram, while the social network Facebook, continues online and without showing errors.
What is a server?
Wikipedia tells us: In computing, a server is a piece of computer hardware or software (computer program) that provides functionality for other programs or devices, called “clients“. This architecture is called the client–server model. Servers can provide various functionalities, often called “services”, such as sharing data or resources among multiple clients, or performing computation for a client. A single server can serve multiple clients, and a single client can use multiple servers. A client process may run on the same device or may connect over a network to a server on a different device.
Most probably, your information is safe, but it is currently floating due to a server issue, which causes not a 404 (not found) error but a freeze in the operation of the platform.
