Female K-pop subunit MAMAMOO has become a trend on social media, but not for something good, now, NewJeans’ fans are accusing those responsible for creating the new image of their new album ‘Two Rabbits‘ of committing plagiarism, as the image of the two rabbits is too similar to the cover of NewJeans‘ album ‘NWJNS‘.
At the beginning of this month, it was announced that MAMAMOO’s subunit ‘MAMAMOO+’, formed by Solar and Moonbyul, would make their grand comeback in August. The couple increased the hype of their fans with various images of their song ‘Save Me’ and then with the release of this one.
Several netizens claim that both designs look too similar, and that it can’t be due to a coincidence, accusing MAMAMOO+’s new album of plagiarism. On July 21, the album track listing was released with a cereal box design with the two rabbits sitting in the center. Although the design is adorable, some could not help but notice that the feel of the design was similar to NewJeans’ NWJNS album.
Recall that the girls of NewJeans are depicted by a bunny in most of their concept images, and usually refer to their fans as “bunnies.” Fans were quick to come out and expose the similarities of the design after the release of the track list, via social media, where they claimed it was plagiarism.
‘NewJeans’ fans saw that something was not right with the concept images of the album, titled ‘Two Rabbits’, where two small rabbits representing the members can be seen with a blue, yellow and white color scheme. So it didn’t take long for them to show their dissatisfaction with this artwork which, according to the fandom, was “obviously” an attempt at plagiarism.
Was it a real intention of plagiarism? Or was it just a coincidence? Tell us what you think.
