King Charles III, who officially became the new sovereign of the United Kingdom on May 6, is currently focused on creating new alliances to ensure that his reign is successful. In that same vein, it looks like Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburg is the new key member of the British royalty.
A few months ago, Charles revealed that he wants to ‘slim down’ the monarchy in order to reduce costs. To do so, he plans on only keeping the most valuable members of the royalty and, according to some royal experts, Sophie has quickly become one of the most fundamental pieces in King Charles III’s reign.
Jennie Bond, former royal correspondent for the BBC, addressed the situation in an interview with OK Magazine. According to her, the public’s recognition of Sophie, who has been dubbed Charles’ secret weapon, has been increasing due to her philanthropic work with charities that support more than 700 children and young people with life-limiting conditions.
“It is so much more evident now that Sophie is a key member of the list of working royals. I think people have really taken her into their hearts, especially after she showed her obvious grief at losing Prince Philip and the Queen.”
Sophie was a close friend of the late Queen Elizabeth II, especially after Prince Phillip passed away. She reportedly took care of her and cheered her up. Thanks to this, she easily became one of King Charles III’s favorite royals and now she is a key member of the royalty’s future.
