Rocket Raccoon is at the front and center of Marvel Studios‘ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a gutwrenching and emotional journey that serves as the culmination of the Guardians trilogy.
The much-anticipated movie was well-received by Marvel fans and professional critics and it is going to be the final work of James Gunn for the studio. He had previously directed the first two entries in the trilogy but was fired after some controversial tweets resurfaced. However, he was rehired after Disney faced backlash from fans and several actors who had worked with him.
Although the superhero team has several members, the film mainly focuses on Rocket’s heartbreaking past and how it caught up to him. During the film, it is revealed that Rocket and his friends, a walrus, a rabbit, and an otter, were created by the High Evolutionary as lab experiments in the search for the perfect specimen.
Rocket’s desire is to free himself and his friends from the cages. However, he quickly realizes that he will have to confront his creator in order to achieve his goal but he won’t be able to do it without consequences. In one of the most heartbreaking scenes of the film, Rocket has to say goodbye to his friends who die during their attempt to escape and he has to continue his journey alone.
