Ed Sheeran’s new album titled Subtract (-) , which is expected to be the last entry of The Mathematics era, will finally release on May 5. The British singer-songwriter first confirmed he was working on a new album back in november when he became the first artist to have four albums spend a year in the Top 10 on the UK Singles Chart. He posted a video on Instagram celebrating this record and saying: I’m going to celebrate by shooting a music video for my brand-new album, which will be out next year.
Fast forward to today, the British singer and songwriter took the web by storm after months of teasing when he posted a teaser on Twitter which confirmed the release date and tracklist for the latest entry of his discography. He also released a press statement giving more insight behind the creative process for the creation of the album:

Within the space of a month, my pregnant wife got told she had a tumour, with no route to treatment until after the birth. My best friend Jamal [Edwards], a brother to me, died suddenly and I found myself standing in court defending my integrity and career as a songwriter. I was spiralling through fear, depression and anxiety. This is last February’s diary entry and my way of making sense of it. This is ‘Subtract.
