The Buckingham Palace is just about to officially announce that the duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker, will lose her royal title as “Queen Consort” after her coronation alongside with the King Charles in May, according to British media reports.
The changes were explained by the British newsletters who claim that after her coronation with her husband, the current King of England, her title will change from “queen consort” to simply “queen”, to reflect her new status.
Consequently, her charitable activity, called “The Duchess of Cornwall’s Reading Room” will also upgrade its name to “The Queen’s Reading Room”, which is a staple change that is made very often in the monarchies.
It’s also been confirmed that, though the change is pretty much an update and an upgrade, it’s also valid to refer to her as “queen consort”. It’s not obligatory to refer to her with her new title exclusively, the last one is still correct and means no disrespect.
The title of Queen Consort was given by her mother-in-law, the late Queen Elizabeth in February of 2022, but it’s now time for her to take on the title and the role that she left empty when passing away.
Queen Elizabeth’s announcement of Camilla Parker’s official title ended the years of speculation of whether she should ever be called queen or not, which was a quite controversial topic due to her unpopularity.
