Salma Hayek is presently regarded as one of Hollywood’s most well-known actors, but the actress has admitted that for a long time, people tried to convince her that her greatest ability was the sensuality she could portray on screen.
The 56-year-old actress stated this to a renowned magazine, where she acknowledged that her early roles were dependent on her physical looks and that she even became a “sex symbol,” which was why she wanted to branch out into different genres to avoid being stereotyped as just a lovely body.
She became aware in the late 2000s that the only parts she was given required her to portray a sensual woman, but a decade later, Adam Sandler saved her from that by including her in the movie “Grown ups,” where she showed her skill for other genres and unlocked new opportunities:
“I couldn’t get a role until I met Adam Sandler, who put me in a comedy, but I was in my forties,” she confessed.- Salma Hayek
She now affirms that she no longer believes that only her sensuality is valued, but also her true talent:
“I’m at a point in my life where I don’t think my sexuality is the only thing that is valued the most, but even if it were, I wouldn’t care, because I have built respect around me from the people who matter.”-Salma Hayek
