The clothing brand H&M eliminated a collection inspired by Justin Bieber, after the Canadian singer considered it “trash” and invited his followers not to buy it.
Justin Bieber, claimed he had not approved of the collection, which included T-shirts, sweaters, bags and phone accessories. In an Instagram story, the ‘Baby’ singer asked his followers not to buy the items.
“The merchandise H&M made of me is trash and I didn’t approve,” Justin wrote on his Instagram story Tuesday. “Don’t buy it.”
“I didn’t approve of anything in the collection they put on H&M,” adding, “All without my permission and approval. I wouldn’t buy it if I were you.”
In an official statement, H&M defended the fashion line, which allegedly features images of the star and indicated that proper procedures were followed, however, announced that they have withdrawn the line.
“As with all other licensed products and partnerships, H&M followed the proper approval procedures,” said a spokesperson for the Swedish brand, adding, “But out of respect for the collaboration and Justin Bieber, we have removed the garments from our stores and online.”
This is not the first time a star has lashed out at a brand for using their image without permission, in 2015 Rihanna won a case against Topshop after selling a T-shirt featuring her photos.
