Lionel Messi lifted the World Cup in Qatar 2022, in addition to being named the best player of the tournament winning the Ballon d’Or, so the Paris Saint-Germain Club is already in renewal plans.
According to French newspaper Le Parisien, the Argentine player has reached an agreement with PSG to extend his contract for at least one more season.
According to the news, both parties began negotiating three months ago and have finalized in early December, pending the signature that will occur when the player meets with President Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sports advisor Luis Campos to finalize the details regarding the duration and the amount.
Less than a week ago Al-Khelaifi had already indicated that Messi’s desire was to remain with the Parisian side and that they would talk after the 2022 World Cup, during an interview with radio station RMC, something he confirmed after the final of the tournament played in Qatar.
“We agreed that we would talk after the World Cup. I’ve said it a thousand times: he is very happy at the club, he is having a very good season.
I think he wants to stay,” said the PSG president for next season.
Messi will extend his contract with PSG, since there is a verbal agreement between both parties. This would lead the Argentine to be linked to the French club beyond 2023 and would close the possibility of a possible return to Barcelona with La Liga in Spain.
