At the height of the 2000s, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were one of the couples of the moment. They were making headlines and were always followed by paparazzi, who were looking to get the best photo of the most coveted couple.
Unfortunately, that media harassment and exposure ended up causing the couple to break up just months after they got engaged. They parted ways and JLo was devastated, but has not said a word until now.
Almost 20 years after their breakup, Jennifer Lopez decided to talk about her breakup with Ben Affleck in 2004. A moment that, for her, was “the most difficult” of her life (or at least one of the most complex).
In an interview with Zane Lowe for “Apple Music 1,” Jennifer opened her heart and confessed the pain she felt when she and Ben ended their romance… she thought she was going to die.
“It was very painful after we broke up. Once we decided to end the engagement 20 years ago it felt like the worst breakup of my life. It honestly felt like I was going to die.”
She was so devastated that, she says, she could no longer do the same kind of music she was doing before she met Ben. It left her in a “spiral” that took her nearly 15 years to overcome.
But in 2021 a light of hope was lit, when Ben decided to contact her after years and from there it was history.
Today they are married, they are once again one of the couples of the moment, but they look more in love than ever, ready to be “forever together”, as JLo herself specifies.
“We meet at this moment when I’m reunited with the love of my life and we decided that we’re going to be together forever.
The whole message of this album is about that, that love exists, this is real love.”
