Shakira goes against Spanish tax authorities
This Friday it was announced that the singer through her lawyers, filed a defense brief for her tax offenses allegedly committed between 2012 and 2014; where the Colombian detailed that she did not incur in any kind of crime, since she did not set her residence in Spain until 2015.
That year is when the soccer player and the singer had their second child and the first child was enrolled in a school in Spain, because prior to that, the relationship with Gerard Piqué was not the best.
Shakira would have accepted that until that moment, there was no firm commitment with Piqué.
“There was no firm commitment between the two and they could only see each other taking advantage of vacation periods or fleeting trips, either in Barcelona or elsewhere in the world,” revealed La Vanguardia.

“It is unacceptable the fact that in my accusation the tax authorities are not respecting the legal certainty that must be guaranteed to any taxpayer, nor my fundamental rights,” detailed Shakira, according to a Spanish media.
To conclude the letter, Shakira denied having used tax havens, as she assures that her duty was to pay taxes in Bahamas and not in Spain, so the accusations made against her have affected her reputation and she has been the victim of a media persecution.
“They intend to present her as an artist who wanted to avoid paying taxes.
They have pursued her fiercely in the criminal and media sphere using unacceptable methods to attack her reputation and force her to reach an agreement”, revealed the media El Confidencial.
