In response to the rumors, Dua Lipa has clarified what is happening with her supposed performance at the opening of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Dua Lipa will NOT be performing at Qatar 2022
FIFA has not yet confirmed, as of today, who will be the artists in charge of opening the most important soccer event on the planet.
Names such as Dua Lipa, Shakira or Black Eyed Peas have been circulating for weeks as the ones profiled to open the world tournament.
It was through the World Music Awards Twitter account that a list of possible confirmed luminaries was leaked.
Although the tweet was later deleted, some media outlets were able to catch the publication and note that, in addition to the aforementioned figures, there would also be J Balvin, K-Pop band BTS, Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, Black Eyed Peas and Nora Fatehi.
Julian Marely, son of Bob Marley, would also join the line-up, although it was not clear whether he would be at the opening or closing ceremony.
Recently, in her social networks, the interpreter of ‘Levitating’ already clarified and ruled out performing in Qatar 2022. In addition, in the same publication she asks for respect for Human Rights.
“Currently there are many speculations that I will be performing at the opening ceremony of the World Cup in Qatar. I will not be performing in Qatar nor have I been involved in negotiations to do so.
I will be cheering England on from afar, and hope to visit Qatar when it has fulfilled all the human rights it promised when it won the right to host the World Cup.
