For weeks, audiences around the world witnessed the media trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp.

Johnny Depp refuses to pay money owed to Amber Heard
The actor had sued the actress for defamation. Both actors used the stands as a space to try to convince, not only the jury, but, the public in general.
Depp used the platform to present his case in detail. With photos, evidence, videos, audios, cell phone messages, e-mails, as well as testimonies of witnesses close to the ex-couple’s environment, the world learned about their married life.
Thus, the audience discovered that the actor had been mistreated by his ex-wife, a version that contrasted with the one she had spread for some years in different spaces.
More than convincing the jury, what the actor wanted was for his fans and the general public to hear his version of events.
Finally, the verdict came and the jury ruled in favor of Johnny Depp. The actor won three of the lawsuits filed for defamation and his ex-wife was ordered to pay him 10 million dollars in damages.
However, the actress won one of the lawsuits, so her ex-husband should also pay her an amount. At the time, Johnny maintained that he did not plan to pay a dollar to his ex-wife and it seems that he wants to fulfill that statement at all costs.
Now, Deep´s lawyers want to overturn the judgment in favor of the actress that sentences him to pay her two million dollars
Johnny’s legal team filed a petition in the Court of Appeals of Virginia, in which, they argue that the actor should not be held responsible for the comments made by his lawyer Adam Waldman to the Daily Mail media in April 2020.
The lawyers of the actor claim that, despite having received a “favorable verdict” for their client, “some sentences were erroneous”, in reference to the favorable sentence for Amber Heard.
“Ms. Heard presented no evidence at trial that Mr.
Depp was personally involved in directing or making any of Waldman’s three statements. In fact, Mr. Depp testified that he had not even seen Waldman’s comments prior to the filing of the counterclaim in August 2020,” the legal team argues in the documents.
Consequently, both Johnny Depp and his legal team believe that the actor cannot be held liable for the conduct of one of his employees, who acted independently.
Therefore, they want the judgment in favor of Amber Heard to be reversed and thus avoid paying her two million dollars.
