Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane ,who brought Rubeus Hagrid to life in the ‘Harry Potter’ saga, lost his life on Friday, his agent confirmed. Actor who played Hagrid in Harry Potter has passed away
“It was a role that brought joy to children and adults alike, and one that has seen him receive a river of fan mail every week for the past 20 years,” his agent said in a statement quoted by the BBC.
The 72-year-old Scot leaves widowed his wife Rhona Gemmell with whom he married in 1999 although their relationship goes back many years, when they became parents of their two children.

In film, in addition to the role of Hagrid, Coltrane played Falstaff in Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Henry V’ (1989) and a Russian spy turned assistant to ‘James Bond’ in two films of the super spy saga (‘Goldeneye” and ‘The World Is Never Enough”).
Coltrane, who adopted his stage name because of his passion for jazzman John Coltrane, was divorced and had two children.
In a statement, his agent Belinda Wright confirmed that the actor lost his life in a hospital near Falkirk, Scotland.
So far, the cause of death has not been disclosed.
