Chappell Roan may be a main pop girl, but she’s already rethinking her path to stardom. In a recent interview, the 26-year-old opened up about a scary encounter at an airport where two men harassed her for autographs. She immediately felt unsafe, saying, “I know they’re not fans.” When she refused to sign, one of them followed her, yelling, “You should really humble yourself.” the singer recalled.

She admits this was a wake-up call: “If this ever gets dangerous, I might quit.” She also expressed fame and stardom feel “abusive,” comparing the unwanted attention to being stalked by an “abusive ex-husband.” This story comes a week following her brief clapback against a photographer who was telling her to “shut up.” She fiercely responded, “Not me, b*tch.”

The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer has also reached out to friends like Lorde, who offered advice. Yet, situations like these have left her emotionally drained. “I cried in the airport bathroom,” she shared, an emotional reminder that fame often comes with unwanted and invasive attention.

Even though Chappell Roan has been having massive success, she refuses to normalize the harassment that comes with celebrity status. In a recent video, the singer voiced out all her frustrations regarding fame, touching upon topics like getting attention from strangers and not being able to normally walk on the street.

“I don’t care that abuse and harassment is a normal thing for famous people… It doesn’t make it OK.”
