Thanks to an announcement issued by the palace, it was confirmed that King Charles III will meet with cancer researchers on his first major royal tour after his diagnosis. It was also revealed that the trip will last approximately 9 days.

The palace highlighted, “The King, who has this year been receiving treatment for cancer, will meet Professor Georgina Long and Professor Richard Scolyer, both Australians of the Year“. These are the medical co-directors of the ‘Melanoma Institute Australia‘, so the monarch “will hear about the work they do to help those affected by melanoma, one of Australia’s most common cancers“.

It is known that King Charles III has been diagnosed with cancer since February, so it is believed that this visit to Georgina Long and Richard Sclolyer could have some personal interest in his own illness or the treatment of the same.

While it is true that his wife wants him to have more rest and fewer extensive work trips, the palace informed them, “Their Majesties, the King and Queen, will undertake an Autumn Tour from Friday 18th – Saturday 26th October 2024“, confirming that they will be away from home for more than a week.
