The rapper and dancer of the band showed his dislike for this nickname with which they have referred to him, you know why

What are BTS’s nicknames? The K-Pop group debuted in 2013 under the name Bangtan Sonyeondan, its members also chose a stage name to make themselves known in the entertainment world. Suga, V, RM and J-Hope chose their nicknames, but there is a nickname that one of them dislikes.

Throughout their career, the band not only changed its name to the acronym that is known throughout the world, its leader was known as Rap Monster, but it reduced it to just two letters. Even the members had some ideas for ARMY’s name and their own as Baby J.

In K-Pop, fans also often give idols nicknames according to their personality, something that is related to them or according to their factions, such as Jungkook and Suga, who resemble a rabbit or a cat, according to their followers.

However, there was a nickname that made J-Hope very upset and showed his disagreement during a show where he described his reasons.

Before debuting as an idol, J-Hope was a street dancer and his name was “SmileHoya”. His real name is Hoseok, but he’s used his nickname with BTS all this time, even introducing himself as the hopeful ARMY.

However, they used to call him by the nickname J-Horse, hinting that his physical features were similar to those of a hair. It was supposedly a nickname that he created himself, but fans and the rapper have expressed his dislike for this name.

During BTS’s visit to Knowing Bros, Netflix’s most popular Korean reality show, J-Hope explained the origin behind the nickname, as one of the hosts said that he had a long face and that’s why they called him that. Although he accepted that it might be true, he actually didn’t like the nickname very much and wanted to give him a new nickname.

Since then, ARMY has petitioned for them to stop using it, as it could be offensive to them. In addition, J-Hope has been one of the members who has been the target of criticism from haters and some followers who have questioned his performance in BTS or his appearance during the early years of the band.
