During his brief two-day tour of the Channel Islands, thousands of onlookers noticed how King Charles III unexpectedly broke royal protocol, causing quite a surprise as the monarch allowed a daring act from a royal follower.
In social networks a video was published where the king is seen talking to a 91-year-old woman who was identified as Kathleen Moriarty, but what caught the attention of those present is that later she gives a kiss on the cheek to the monarch after he gave her consent to do so.

It is said that King Charles III broke the rules since the official website of the royal family states that the ideal protocol when meeting a public member of royalty is to make a brief bow; if this seems too much, a slight handshake would also suffice, but there is nothing about a kiss, as it would seem inappropriate.
Moriarty confessed to the BBC how things happened: “I said to him, ‘Please, can I give you a kiss?’ And he gives me his cheek. I just did it! I didn’t plan it, and I enjoyed it. He’s lovely. It was very nice. I am pleased. I thought if all these young dolly birds can do it, this old lady can!” which also proves that Charles is an empathetic king to his supporters.
