The Glastonbury lineup is full of A-list stars this year, including names like Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and yes, SEVENTEEN! The K-pop group emerges as a surprising powerhouse on the main Pyramid Stage. Though they are less familiar in the United Kingdom, the Glastonbury festival did score a point by having this global K-pop act that’s been making huge moves.

SEVENTEEN is standing apart in the industry, crafting their own music and operating in three distinct sub-units: hip-hop, vocal, and performance. While they are powerful in separate groups, it’s the full 13-member assembly that’s had the biggest hits. About this, Dr. Kim Kim Youngdae, a South Korean music critic and ethnomusicologist, has credited their success to the squads’s consistency and teamwork:

“While many groups have been struggling to maintain the same energy and motivation over time, Seventeen has managed to stay at the top of their game for a long period. Musically, they are always very solid, capable of adapting to various genres.”

Since SEVENTEEN’s debut with “17 Carat” in 2015, initially selling 1,600 copies, the K-pop sensation has skyrocketed to the forefront of the K-pop scene. Their 2023 mini-album “FML,” sold a whopping 4.55 million copies in its first week. Then, their follow-up “Seventeenth Heaven” marked history with 5.20 pre-orders. Their extensive catalog is now celebrated in their recent hits album “17 IS RIGHT HERE.”

Mark your calendars and set up your notification: SEVENTEEN will make history as the first-ever K-pop act to perform on Glastonbury‘s main stage this Friday June 28th.
