Meghan Markle and Prince Harry starred in one of the most controversial scenes inside the Royal Family in 2020. The pair decided to give up on their royal duties and relocate to the United States to live a calmer life. They weren’t stripped of their royal titles, but how would they be called if they were?
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles were received as a “gift” from the late Queen Elizabeth II on their wedding day in 2018. The title implies to maintain their private patronage to organizations and social projects up to the moment of their resignation.
The title granted by the Queen through marriage can only be stripped by someone of the same rank, the now-king, Charles III would be the only one who could strip their titles. So what would they be called? Ingrid Seward, a royal expert shared her thoughts during a convo with Mirror UK.
“In the hypothetical case that the king stripped his son and daughter-in-law of their titles as dukes, nothing would happen. Both would have a different title: Harry would simply be known as “Prince Harry,” while Meghan Markle would be known as his wife, “Princess Harry.”
