Billie Eilish has made herself notorious on the music landscape for her innovative approach to pop music, blending elements of various genres like electropop, indie, and alternative. Her personality is also one of her biggest and most notorious assets, and even though she may come across as awkward, and sometimes odd, she had never been described as greedy… until now. Her comments during a call with multiple people on social media have raised concerns about her commercial tactics and the way she’s allegedly overexploiting her fans.
After a long wait of almost three years, Billie Eilish has finally released a new album, “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT”, which has been positively received by both the fans and the critics, but the rollout of the album is getting tarnished by a few controversies. First, she is competing with fellow singer Taylor Swift for the #1 spot on the weekly album sales chart, Swift is competing with her newest release, “THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT”, and though they appear to get along in real life, the competition for the top spot may have led them to actively compete and try to overshadow one another, a controversy that has been fueled by Billie’s indirect comments that could be interpreted to be about Taylor, and Taylor’s variant album releases on Billie’s release week, apparently an attempt to keep her own album in the #1 and block Billie’s from getting there.
Now, another controversy is rising on the internet after a now infamous conversation between Billie Eilish and her brother FINNEAS. As you’ll be able to hear from the audio linked below, Billie tried to interrupt her brother when he was thanking one fan who had purchased her album five times.
Finneas: You can stop buying the album, 5 times insane.
Billie Eilish: No, no, don’t say that! Also Billie months ago : https://t.co/IEsymZM0ZE pic.twitter.com/26l8nQlPtI

By the looks of it, she’s totally okay with fans buying her album five or more times, and she’s indirectly enabling them to spend as much money as possible on her, which got her a lot of comments about the greediness she’s developed considering she also has released multiple versions of her album to boost her sales even more. The first one to call her out for her attitute was her own brother, right there on the voice chat.
Here’s a breakdown of the conversation.
Fan: I bought the album five times.
FINNEAS: You can stop buying the album, we love you.
Billie: No, no no, no, no. Laughs. Don’t say that.
FINNEAS: Well, you know like, buying the album five times is insane.
Billie: That’s true.
FINNEAS: Why are we this… this… There’s only one of you.
What do you think? Was Billie really being greedy with the things she said?
