King Charles lll has had his first official portrait as monarch of the United Kingdom. However, the painting has generated a huge controversy due to the prominence of the red color. It seems that the Head of State was also scared when he saw it for the first time, as his reaction was captured on a video.
In a ceremony held in Buckingham Palace in London on Thursday, the monarch joined the artist Jonathan Yeo in the blue lounge of the place for the inauguration of the portrait, which was ordered to celebrate his 50th anniversary as a member of the Drapers’ Company of the British capital in 2022.

However, the images captured at the Palace event (which were shared on X by the user @I_amMukhtar) capture the moment in which the monarch removed the sheet that covered the painting, but quickly raised his shoulders, giving a small jump of fear, and then gave a brief laugh.
The video titled “He freaked out when he saw himself” has been viewed millions of times, and the reaction that many people around the world have to the first portrait of King Charles III is expressed in the comments where they say “satanic“, “perturbing“, “terrifying“, among others.
