Shakira’s name was on every headliner last year after she broke up with former soccer player, Gerard Piqué. The controversies, rumors, and disses were just part of the huge scandal the Colombian singer faced. She was also accused of tax evasion for around $15.574.000 during 2012 and 2014.
The “Puntería” singer reached an agreement with the prosecutor’s office and the Spanish Tax Agency in November 2023. Shakira paid an 8 million dollar fine and avoided going to jail. However, the remaining amount was going to be investigated by the Spanish governmental entities.
After starting a triumphant week by attending the Met Gala, Shakira’s case was resumed by the Prosecutor’s Office which demanded to archive all investigations against the singer for tax evasion in 2018, after the investigation was inconclusive.
Shakira was also accused by the Prosecutor’s office of creating a company to avoid all types of tax payments on the 2018 personal income tax and Spanish wealth declarations. Finally, Shakira is on the silver linings of this chapter.
