ILLIT has been on a tightrope during the last couple of weeks because of their actions. First of all, K-Netizens highly criticized them because of their performance skills in South Korean music programs, and now, they are being criticized due to their new fandom’s name.
On April 21, the girl band announced their fandom name through a live broadcast. They announced they were going to be called, “LILLY.” However, the name immediately received backlash for several reasons which were discussed on online forums.
The newest fandom name is pronounced and written the same in Korean as NMIXX’s Lily’s name. Secondly, BLACKPINK’s Lisa fans are called “Lillies.” The girls didn’t have another choice but to change the name of the fandom and it’s going to be announced at a later date.
ILLIT’s music agency, BELFIT LAB announced the fandom name will be changed soon. They wanted to apologize to anyone for the concerns that emerged because of their name’s decision. This time, a naming contest will not be held, so they are gonna find a way to solve the riddle.
