Management SOOP, the agency of renowned South Korean actor Gong Yoo, has regretfully announced the passing of his father at 78 years old on February 5th. The cause of death has not been released, and it’s intended to be kept private.
This February has been especially difficult for Gong Yoo, who has seen his professional career overshadowed by such a sensitive loss. His father’s body is resting at the Asan Hospital Funeral Home in Seoul, where the actor, who was the man’s only child, is currently mourning his remains along with his family. The funeral will be held on February 8th.
Gong Yoo, who is known for his participation in successful dramas such as “School 4”, “Coffee Prince”, “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” and specially for “Squid Game”, as well as the films “Train to Busan” and “Seo Bok”, is now facing this difficult personal moment. It was previously confirmed that the actor will return in season 2 of “Squid Game”, which is scheduled to premiere this year on Netflix. Here’s his iconic scene at the opening of the series.
