Just a couple of hours after the sad news, the Vatican confirmed the cause of death of Pope Francis. The Pontiff died of a stroke early this morning, fell into a coma, and subsequently had irreversible heart failure.
The death was confirmed by Dr. Andrea Arcangeli, the head of the Vatican’s health department. The rumors about his death from his chronic lung disease were dismissed, despite he was hospitalized for 38 days earlier this year following a respiratory crisis that developed into double pneumonia.
