The Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, had the chance to meet with Pope Francis hours before his death. Pope Francis’ death was shocking to the Catholic community and resonated with tens of world leaders, including Donald Trump and Brazil’s president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
JD Vance confessed he was happy to see the Pontiff on Easter Sunday. However, he also commented on the health status of the Pope during his short visit to the Vatican and shared condolences to all the followers and loved ones of the Pope.
“I just learned of the passing of Pope Francis. My heart goes out to the millions of Christians all over the world who loved him. I was happy to see him yesterday, though he was obviously very ill. But I’ll always remember him for the below homily he gave in the very early days of COVID. It was really quite beautiful.”
JD Vance and Pope Francis reunited just one day after Francis criticized Trump’s administration’s immigration policy. Stay tuned for further news on Pope Francis’ death and what’s next for the Catholic church.
