The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has honored Pope Francis after the Vatican announced Monday morning that the pontiff died at the age of 88. It was well known that Mr. Trump was a huge follower of the Pope and shared several meetings with him over the decade.
Following the news of his death, there were several tributes from other world leaders, including former president Joe Biden, who called him one of the most consequential leaders of our time. In addition, tens of Americans are mourning the death of the Pope.
The White House also posted photos of Donald and Melania Trump when they met Pope Francis at the Vatican in 2017 during the president’s first term. The short but conclusive message of the president says it all.
