Jennie and the BLACKPINK leader status sparks controversy with solo Jisoo stans

On March 14, 2025, a resurfaced interview clip of BLACKPINK’s Jennie exploded on social media, starting a fire among BLINKs. Originally filmed during her chat with Zane Lowe, the snippet showed Jennie talking about how her clear vision in their trainee days might have helped guide the group. But soon, many stepped in, calling Jennie the “least talented member” in the group for allegedly not giving 100 percent during group performances.

Meanwhile, other solo fans brought up Jisoo,  calling her the real backbone of the group. One viral post highlighted Jisoo’s caring moments, from letting other members pick first to stepping in when someone struggled during interviews. A throwback clip of Lisa complimenting Jisoo’s “leader-like” nature kept the debate going, with people claiming that Jisoo should be the one to get the leading title.

Despite the heated discussions, many defended Jennie, arguing that the interview was chopped in a way that left out how she emphasized unity among all four members. And as fans debate over the “leader” title, BLACKPINK is gearing up for her upcoming tour, kicking off on July 5 and 6 in South Korea.
