Lara Raj from rising K-pop-adjacent group KATSEYE created major buzz when she told fans she’s “half fruitcake” during a Weverse chat, officially coming out as queer. The talented performer says she’s known about her identity since she was a kid, even before turning eight. Now, she’s thrilled to share her truth,  explaining that “half fruitcake” felt like a fun and fitting way to describe herself.

Lara gained recognition on The Debut: Dream Academy reality show, ultimately joining KATSEYE alongside Daniela Avanzini, Manon Bannerman, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, and Yoonchae Jeong. Worried at first that her sexuality might be a problem to get in the girl group, she’s now seeing that fans completely embraced her.

Meanwhile, KATSEYE has been focused on making a big splash in the music industry. The girl group dropped their pre-release track “Debut” followed by their first official track “Touch” in 2024. After that, the group released their EP “SIS (Soft Is Strong),” which contains songs like “My Way,” “Tonight I Might” and “I’m Pretty.”
