BLACKPINK’s Lisa reveals she auditioned with a Miley Cyrus song before becoming a K-pop idol

Before she became a global K-Pop phenomenon, Lisa from BLACKPINK made a big move by auditioning with “Ice Cream Freeze (Let’s Chill)” by Miley Cyrus’s alter ego, Hannah Montana, back in 2009. Speaking to The Guardian, the Thai diva revealed that she performed the catchy track in Thailand when thousands of participants were also hoping for a spot in the K-Pop world.

Lisa recalled feeling like the odds were totally against her, with at least a thousand other contenders competing for a place. However, her choice of a fun, upbeat Miley Cyrus track helped her stand out and showcase her energetic vibe.

“There must have been 1,000 people, so I never thought I would get picked. It’s a fun song and good to dance to, so I think it really suited my style,” she revealed.

Fast-forward to 2025, and Lisa is now lighting up TV screens in Season 3 of The White Lotus on Max. In addition, she dropped her anticipated debut solo album, “Alter Ego,” in February. It’s mind-blowing to think that her global success all started the moment she sang a 2009 Hannah Monatana song!
