IVE’s Wonyoung was suddenly at the center of Internet drama involving Baidu Vice President Xie Guangjun and his 13-year-old daughter in China. The controversy sparked after the teenager allegedly leaked private information to defend Wonyoung. It has been said that she targeted a pregnant netizen who posted negative remarks about the idol using Baidu’s power.

The teen reportedly leaked personal details of over 100 individuals, raising major concerns about data security. Many wondered if she tapped into Baidu’s search engine resources to expose private information. Following this, users quickly discovered various documents hinting that the doxxer was indeed Xie’s daughter, who allegedly bragged about immunity due to her father’s high-powered job. In response, Xie issued a remorseful statement, saying:
“My daughter had a disagreement about a Korean celebrity in an online discussion. She later used overseas social media to expose the other person’s personal information. As a father, I failed to educate my daughter properly about respecting others and protecting personal privacy. I feel deeply guilty and sincerely apologize to those affected,”
Despite Xie’s public apology, many netizens are demanding an official investigation into potential corporate misconduct. Meanwhile, neither Wonyoung nor her agency (Starship Entertainment) have addressed this controversy.
