BLACKPINK’s Lisa made a dazzling comeback with her latest solo album, “Alter Ego,” sending fans worldwide into a frenzy. But when the record reportedly sold around 30,400 copies on its first day—compared to the massive 330,129 copies that her LALISA EP moved back in 2021—people couldn’t help but notice the difference. So what’s really going on with these numbers?
Here’s the tea: After parting ways with YG Entertainment for her individual projects, she established her own label called LLOUD and teamed up with RCA Records for distribution. That means Alter Ego was mostly sold through the special LLOUD X RCA Records website, which doesn’t count for the usual Korean charts like Hanteo and Gaon. As a result, Lisa’s global fanbase might not have boosted her first-day sales in the same way they did for LALISA.
Fans are now pointing out that charts aren’t everything, especially when Lisa’s influence extends way beyond South Korea. With 10 million music video views in just two days and 5 singles rocking the world, “Alter Ego” is still hitting big. At the end of the day, it’s all about Lisa getting into the first chapter of her career.
