Following the reemergence of a racist BTS tweet, Karla Sofía Gascón is facing criticism

The Oscar-nominated actress, Karla Sofía Gascón has been under the eye of scrutiny following a series of comments which resurfaced online after Variety made a short but substantial article about the times the actress has been making politically incorrect comments, including those towards BTS.

Recently, a set of now-deleted tweets from Gascón went viral for being racist. However, the BTS one garnered a greater audience and ultimately became a hot topic on social media, which sparked anger among BTS fans, better known as ARMY.

The actress expressed her discontent about BTS’ success, particularly in “X” (Formerly known as Twitter), stating the idols were “F***ing Chinese BTS.” ARMY were outraged after the comments and sent hate trains towards the actress.

On Reddit, new posts support the idea Karla Sofía Gascón shouldn’t have big roles and have a platform to spread her hate toward other communities. Racism is something that is not tolerated by the K-Netizens and they did the impossible until she addressed the situation.

“I want to acknowledge the conversation around my past social media posts that have caused hurt. As someone in a marginalized community, I know this suffering all too well and I am deeply sorry to those I have caused pain. All my life I have fought for a better world. I believe light will always triumph over darkness.”
