GFRIEND’s sudden bye-bye in 2021 shook the K-pop world, but the truth is finally out: they never disbanded! The girl group clarified the misunderstanding during their reunion on The Seasons with Lee Young Ji, revealing that it was simply a contract expiration with Source Music, not the end of their journey forever.
On January 10, GFRIEND reunited on the KBS music program, leaving fans emotional and excited. They clarified that they didn’t actually disband, despite different articles affirming the girl group had come to an end that year. After their final release, MAGO, in 2021, the group quietly stepped back—but not forever.
“Many articles used the word ‘disbandment,’ so many people think we disbanded, but we didn’t disband. It was a contract expiration,” they explained.
But now? GFRIEND is back with their 10th-anniversary celebrations in full swing, including the release of their special album “Seasons of Memories” on January 13. They are also set to perform at Seoul’s Olympic Hall, showing that they’re still that team! GFRIEND is back, and they got more magic to deliver.
