GOT7’s Yugyeom has just caused a frenzy among fans by casually dropping hints about a sooner-than-expected military enlistment. In a chat with Ginza Magazine, the idol revealed plans to join the South Korean military in 2025. Fans, better known as Ahgase, were thinking about a 2026 time frame, so this news felt like a plot twist nobody saw coming!

During that same interview, Yugyeom confessed he wants to “share as much music as possible” with fans before he leaves to start his service. This confession follows his 2024 solo tour statement in Sydney, where he teased a possible return “maybe two years later” after serving his country. That timeline now aligns with the 2025 date he revealed, possibly paring him with Youngjae, who’s also rumored to enlist soon. Meanwhile, Jay B and Jinyoung have wrapped up their military duties, leaving Jackson Wang, Mark Tuan, and BamBam—foreign members who aren’t required to serve—free to keep pursuing their projects.

But GOT7 isn’t slowing down! The boys will release “WINTER HEPTAGON,” an upcoming EP that marks their first release in three years and their debut under Kakao Entertainment after parting ways with JYP Entertainment. Scheduled for January 20, 2025, this mini-album has fans buzzing.
