King Charles III is currently the King of Jamaica, along with the Prime Minister, Andrew Holness. However, Jamaica might be changing the course of its history with this new and bold movement from the Jamaican tables.

Andrew Holness is pushing ahead with plans to make the realm a republic. Previously, the Jamaican government announced in February that it had begun the first step in the legislative process of constitutional reform, with the preparation of the Constitution of Jamaica (Amendment of Section 61) Bill.

This amendment establishes Jamaica as a republic that would be a priority over the coming year. The bill has been tabled and will be reviewed by joint committees, a parliament vote, and a national referendum.

Jamaica might be following Barbados’s storyline, as the country 2021 became a republic, replacing the late Queen Elizabeth II with a president as its head of state. There’s a lot of speculation about the bill but everything points to its primary objective for 2025.
