BTS’ Jungkook didn’t directly snag a Grammy nomination this year but don’t get it twisted—his GOLDEN album has been nothing short of a slay. The BTS maknae’s solo debut album took the world by storm, debuting at No.2 in the United States with 210,200 equivalent album units sold and serving up three back-to-back bops that solidified his spot in the Western music scene.
Despite the commercial success and critical approval, “GOLDEN” was not considered for any of the categories Jungkook’s team presented nominations for, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. In addition, “Standing Next To You” was submitted for Record of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Solo Performance, and Best Music Video. The was also submitted for “3D” as Best Pop/Duo Group Performance.
While he did not land any of these, Usher did get nominated for his “Coming Home” album in the Best R&B Album category. Taking things to social media, the singer shared his excitement with fans and included a short clip of “Standing Next To You” in the dump. This indirectly makes Jungkook a Grammy-nominated artist despite not being considered for any of his solo work.
