HYBE and SM Entertainment have been in constant discussion over the creative rights of their groups, including performances, concepts, and everything in between. Now, SEVENTEEN has been brought to the dirt by being accused of plagiarizing NCT Dream.
The controversy relies on NCT Dreams’ comeback in 2021 when they released their first repackaged album, “Hello Future.” The title track of the same name was highly praised for its refreshing feel and concept. The song even became one of their most popular to date inside of the Kpop scene.
SEVENTEEN’s “God Of Music” released in October 2023 was directly compared to “Hello Future” because of the same vibes. The accusations increased as the fans stated SEVENTEEN copied the concept from NCT Dream. The controversy increased to the point a post on TheQoo already garnered 50,000 views.
HYBE and SM Entertainment haven’t released any new official statement addressing the uncomfortable situation. However, the fans’ pressure to know the truth might make them release one sooner than everyone can expect.
