King Charles III receives backlash from an Indigenous senator during his speech at the Australian Parliament

King Charles III and Queen Camilla Parker made their royal Australian tour against all odds, and maybe all of their efforts might not pay off. The King recently had an awkward moment during his speech at the Australian Parliament.

The monarchs of the United Kingdom visited the Australian capital, Canberra to meet the nation’s leaders, including Anthony Albanese, the Prime Minister. The King gave a heartfelt speech about Australia’s First Nations people in the Australian Parliament but all the attention went to the indigenous senator, Lidia Thorpe.

After the King finished his speech, Lidia Thorpe showed her outrage towards King Charles III by yelling he was not her king and caused a commotion inside the Australian Parliament. Ultimately, security officers moved to escort her away.

“You committed genocide against our people, give us our land back! Give us what you stole from us! You are not our King!”
