Liam Payne has died at the age of 31. The former One Direction reportedly fell from a hotel located in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. So far, there are no further details about the case.

The news of the death was broadcast by the Argentinean TV channel TN and quickly spread among the international media.

According to the newspaper, the police were called to restrain an “aggressive man”. The caller stated that he appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Upon arrival at the scene, officers confirmed that the singer had died, after being found collapsed.

Alberto Crescenti, head of Argentina‘s Emergency Medical Care System, confirmed the death. He stated then that death was instantaneous and that the artist fell from a height of about 13 meters.

“At 17.04 [local time], through 911, we were alerted of a person who was in the inner courtyard of the Casa Sur hotel. A few minutes later, a local emergency team arrived and confirmed the death of this man, who we later learned was a member of a musical group. He suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the fall“.
